If your Paper 3 answers sound like a shopping list, it is rarely the words. It is the music under them. Malaysian teens often keep pitch flat because school English rewards “correct,” not “alive.” Examiners still hear the difference.

Intonation is how your voice rises and falls across a sentence. A rise can invite (“What do you think?”). A fall can finish (“That’s my view.”). Mix both and you sound like a person — not a script printer.

“Say the same sentence twice: once flat, once with a clear fall on the last idea. Your brain will feel the second one land.”

Start small. Pick one opinion line you already use — “I prefer studying at night because it’s quieter.” Put a soft rise on night, then a firm fall on quieter. Record once. Listen. Adjust. Sekejap je.

No scores here — only progress. Tomorrow, steal one connector from the card below and ride the same rise-fall pattern. Say it · Say more · Say better.

Pin this: connectors that carry your intonation

When you rise into “However,” then fall into your reason, the connector does half the fluency work. Screenshot it. Use one connector per answer this week.
